What the partner schools say!

I just wanted to pass on how much we all loved the Wheelchair sports we had in our school last week. All of the children loved it, even children who usually find PE quite difficult. We have had such positive feedback from children, staff and parents. I didn’t get to see Dan at the end of the day so could you please pass on to him and the team just how highly we thought of them. Thanks again and we will be booking again for next year.” – Robert Mellors School

We loved our week, all our children were totally engaged in the activities and have asked when can we do it again!“– Poplar Farm School

Express coaching delivered an inspiring week where pupils were immersed in the world of wheelchair sports. Each day taught pupils about skill and strategy, empathy and compassion. Dan was welcoming, organised and enthusiastic with staff and pupils. He was flexible to work around our school timings. The equipment was of high quality and accessible to all, The sessions were all inclusive; our usually reluctant pupils were motivated and enjoyed taking part.” –Archbishop Cranmer School

The children thoroughly enjoyed the wheelchair basketball” – The FitzHerbert C of E Primary School

Express coaching provided fun, engaging and all inclusive wheelchair basketball session to students with a diagnosis of autism and additional needs. The students had the best of time, some students who wouldn’t even join in PE completed the full session and had smiles on their faces.” – Discovery Academy Sheffield

Express coaching are an amazing company with great coaches. They worked brilliantly with the children and ensured they were all fully engaged. I would highly recommend.” – Woodseats Primary School

East Midlands Education Trust Partnership

We at Express Coaching Services Ltd don’t just work with individual schools, but also with the trusts many belong to. This provides a whole trust with a greater level and depth towards inclusive and diverse sport offering. Here’s how we work with them:

  • 13 schools in total
  • Six-week programme during the Spring term 2025. For infants this will be four weeks. A full day of delivery, cost XXX.
  • At the end of the six weeks there will be a cross-school tournament. Schools will be split into two groups (Spring 1 and Spring 2)
Programme includes an afterschool Wheelchair Basketball Club. This is included in the cost.
  • Schools will be able to meet with ECS Ltd and agree the programme to be delivered. This can be linked to areas of learning, values, protected characteristics, disability awareness, notable people etc.
  • To facilitate preparation for the tournament Y5/6 should follow a programme which promotes the skill and game development for wheelchair basketball.

This is just one option of how we can deliver wheelchair sports across a trust or a school sport partnership, we can adapt and be flexible to work to your needs.

The EMET Trust Partnership…what they say

Express Coaching have delivered a programme of Wheelchair sports in EMET schools for the last 5 years. One of the programmes delivered was in the lead up to the Olympics with a Paralympic spots programme but our favourite is Wheelchair Basketball.

The children genuinely have loved it. Each week there are comments from pupils who are looking forward to the sessions. Schools say that it is one of the best sporting activities that they have introduced. The programme has helped pupils to:

  • Understand and appreciate the challenges for those who need support for their mobility
  • Know that sport can be adapted for all
  • Learn new skills
  • Enjoy sport in a different way
  • Develop confidence

One of the major benefits for some of our pupils has been that they have been able to excel in a sport that does not rely on them being a fast runner or the best at football. A standout thing has been the excitement from the children. The buzz around schools on Wheelchair Basketball day is electric. With pupils all learning the skills to manoeuvre the wheelchair alongside their teammates and a new set of rules they are all on a level playing field. We have seen pupils shine who have found PE and sports activities a worry. Self esteem and confidence have grown in every session and there has been a transformation in pupils; their confidence and enjoyment can be seen through their smiles.

The Express Coaching staff have been brilliant delivering the 6-week programme in each school. Sessions are engaging and fun. Staff are well trained and knowledgeable and have been able to adapt sessions to meet the needs of the range of pupils in classes. The programme has been delivered to a range of age groups in school from Reception to Y6.

We are all eagerly looking forward to a cross-school tournament where our pupils can showcase their learning, skills and teamwork.

The EMET Trust Partnership…what the children say.
