WLDL Membership

World Liner Data Ltd (WLDL) is a non-profit organisation representing global and regional container shipping lines. WLDL owns the database, which CTS manages on its behalf.

WLDL members contribute its TEU liftings and pricing data worldwide, which CTS collates and audits at a high level to ensure accuracy. CTS compiles and produces aggregated data and reports for WLDL members’ use and also offers data for sale to third parties as WLDL’s agent. The WLDL data and CTS are regulated by various Competition Authorities globally. CTS currently receives 75% of actual data from WLDL Member-contributed data.

WLDL Membership offers carrier lines a unique opportunity to contribute its TEU lifting data and freight rate figures from their manifests to CTS. This can encompass all their trade data or specific routes based on UNLOCODES, which CTS aligns with their structures. To see this, download the Reporting Location document. Membership entails an annual fee determined by the volume of TEUs you contribute to the database.

Any shipping lines that are not WLDL members and, therefore, do not contribute data are referred to as Non-Contributing Lines (NCLs); CTS employs a variety of high-level data sources to estimate the remaining volumes. This approach provides a single view of total global trade.
