A little preparation makes a website project faster, cheaper and far less stressful. You do not need everything finished, but having these five things in hand will make your first conversation with a designer much more useful.
1. A clear goal for the site
Decide what you most want visitors to do. Call you, book an appointment, request a quote or buy online. Every page decision follows from that one answer.
2. A list of the pages you need
Write down the pages you expect, even roughly: home, services, about, contact. It becomes the starting point for the sitemap.
3. Your logo and brand files
Find the original logo files, ideally as SVG or high-resolution PNG, plus any colours or fonts you already use.
4. Photos you own
Real photos of your work, your premises and your team beat stock images every time. Gather what you have, even if you plan to add more later.
5. Access details
Make a note of who manages your domain name, email and any current hosting. Transferring these is often the slowest part of a launch.
