Over winter we naturally spend more time indoors with the heating on. A few simple changes can make a real difference to your bills without losing comfort.
1. Turn Down Your Boiler Flow Temperature
Many combi boilers are set to send water to the radiators at 70°C or more. Lowering the flow temperature to around 60°C lets a condensing boiler run more efficiently. If you are unsure how, our engineers can set it during a service.
2. Use Your Thermostat And Timer
Heat your home only when you need it. A programmable or smart thermostat makes this easy. Read our programmable thermostat guide.
3. Bleed And Balance Your Radiators
Radiators that are cold at the top have trapped air, which wastes energy. Bleeding them takes minutes. If they are cold at the bottom, sludge may be the problem and a powerflush could help.
4. Get Your Boiler Serviced
An annual service keeps your boiler safe and efficient and helps prevent breakdowns. Our care plans include an annual service from £15 a month.
5. Consider An Upgrade
If your boiler is over 12 years old, a modern A-rated boiler or an air source heat pump could significantly reduce your running costs.
